Coindesk said the northern coastal city, Tianjin, has released China's first blockchain-based carbon offset certificate. This is achieved with the help of the giant fintech platform AntChain. China's main goal is to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060.

The blockchain will support the documentation processes, including delivery information, electronic waybills, declaration of dangerous goods. Blockchain use for maritime processes isn't new. Throughout 2020, multiple port operators  have used this technology.
